design your own art project
Ari Liberman and Sam Southworth
Artist Statement
When this project started Ari and I were excited to showcase our designing skills in the forms of a project. We proceed to research different ideas that could incorporate our designing skills while also making a real out of comuter final product. We decided that making clothing designs was a good idea so we started to make designs. We researched different articles that showed the appeal towards art on clothing and took ideas from that to make our designs better and catch the audience's eye. Once we finished our research we started to design and array of different products with different logos incorporating art tools such as balance, contrast, and emphasis.

documentary project
For this project me and a friend chose to make a documentary about the impact of climate change on our community. I learned many new camera skills as well as how to properly conduct an interview and a ton of new video editing skills. I feel our final copy is very well done and my skills grew greatly throughout the process. If you have time you should watch the final video!
Recent work
Just some designs I have been making in my free time.

Self portrait project
Project Objective: Create a self-portrait or develop a series of self portraits inspired by your personal and/or intellectual growth this year.
Envision and Critique to Reflect: Reflective Strategies are used by students to understand the creative process.
Invent and Discover to Create: Students assess and produce art with various materials and methods.
- To what extent does a work of art depend on the artist’s point of view?
- To what extent does a work of art depend on the viewer’s point of view?
- Why is it important to understand the intentions behind an artwork? A self-portrait in particular?
Invent and Discover to Create: Students assess and produce art with various materials and methods.
- How are the characteristics and expressive features of art and design used to create a self-portrait?
- What problem solving skills are employed in making visual reflections of self?
- Visual arts rely on reflective processes to create new and evolvedworks of art through introspection, collaboration, globalconnections, experimentations, and research. In what ways did you accomplish these skills through out this project?
teacher creature project
The teacher creature project focussed on improving and learning many concepts including tones, image blending, scale and proportion, altering colors and making images look realistic. When the project first began I slacked in the beginning and as a result while many people were well on their way to having completed theirs I hadn't even started. I wanted to make my project something funny but I would always start a new version and then decide it looked bad and go with another concept. I was in desperate need of help so I brainstormed with my digital arts teacher Roxy. After the brainstorm I had a lot of new ideas and decided to go with this. I found a picture of a family watching TV, then in another project I added my Humanities teacher Matt Dooley's face onto a image of a popular children cartoon "Caillou." I then cropped altered and warped the image to fit the TV in my project. I then added the face of my digital arts teacher Roxy McKnight onto the woman. I had to adjust the image tone, saturation, and many other image adjustments so it would fit onto the image well. Over the baby I added the face of my physics teacher Brian Morgan. I did many other tweaks and edits until my teacher creature project was looking great. In general I think this project helped me grow because it was open enough for me to be able to be as creative as I wanted while being challenge by choice. I learned many new photoshop skills and improved on those that I already knew through the time I spent on this project. Below my final I will show the original image so you can see just how much I altered it.
Tutorial Week
This week I practiced designing in a mix of the two programs Cinema 4D R15 and Adobe Photoshop CS6. I practiced concepts such as blending color corrections and making my designs look more refined.. Along with the tutorials I watched I also watched many speedarts of similar GFX designs for inspiration. These speedarts gave me ideas of tools that I may need to become more familiar with tools. (A speedart is a video of someone making a design in a few programs it is speed up but its shows in a few minutes how they made a masterpiece design that a tutorial would take hours to design.)

Landscape project
Landscape project notes
Landscapes: Understanding Distance with Scale and Proportion.
The Image above is one of my first photoshop projects.
Background is the space that sports a photo but doesn't draw attention. The background is usually blurry or vague and doesn't have any points that stick out to much. The middle grounds colors aren't very bright and the details tend to be softer. The sizes in the middle ground are mid sized, the smaller object blur together and the larger objects are clearer. The foreground has large or up close objects with lots of vibrant color and value. Objects in the foreground have crisp texture and clear details. The tools I found most useful were the eraser tool, the path selection tool, and the magic selection tool. I have learned the hard way that just saving your picture as a JPEG will not allow you to edit, if you want to edit your picture later you MUST save it as a photoshop document first. Zipp files will download an entire group of downloads, however if you extract them you can download individual files.
