Acrylic Transfers
For this project I chose to do my acrylic transfer of a rose. I chose this, because I thought the photo I found was really cool, and also because it had to be a high contrast black and white image in order to correctly transfer from Xerox to the Acrylic. I did not really know where this piece was going for most of the painting and creative process. I really like the way it turned out because I tried to make the blending around more realistic by adding other black images and designs throughout the canvas, to captivate attention and obscure the painting overall. I also for the first time experimented with doing many layers of washes, candle wax, and chalk pastels. I feel this project has really expanded my interest in making art in the studio rather than solely in illustrator.
(my poem for my art piece)
Girl you know I got a cold heart
If I would give it to you, would you tear that shit apart
Red roses on my grave, bury me with art
And with some Backwoods and a lighter just so I could spark
Midnight rider, never put the car in park
I'm shining bright just like a light cause I came from the dark
I ain't never had nobody, put that on my mommy
I might have to catch a body if you try to stop me
She ride like a Kawasaki and she like it sloppy
