3 writing goals
Goal 1 - Improve Thesis’ and Introductions I will ask for refinements and ways to improve my introduction and thesis statements. I feel I have a lot of room to grow in making my thesis statement and introduction . I want to make sure that my introductions always set the context for my thesis statement, and that my thesis clearly answers the question or responds to the prompt. I can do this by focussing on my introduction and thesis heavily during the early part of my writing process, and continue to refine them as I get further in the process.
Goal 2 - Improve Writing through multiple drafts and peer critique. There has been many times that although I worked very hard on editing a paper of mine, a grammar error or punctuation mistake will slip my eye, and I will end up noticing often having it pointed out to me in a very embarrassing fashion when it is too late to alter my final product. I can help myself do this by managing my time well, which will in turn help me finish my writing pieces before the deadlines and have plenty of time to make edits, get refinements, and write multiple drafts.
Goal 3 - Properly cite sources for every quote. I recall several times last year when I thought the proper way to cite sources was by simply pasting the link you got it from at the bottom of the page. I intend to use full MLA format in hopes to practice citing my sources much better, and becoming more proficient at it. I can do this by learning MLA format well so it becomes easy for me to quickly cite my sources and it becomes less and less time consuming.
